This one day workshop is practically based and will cover:

• The background to mentoring
• The skills and tools required by the mentor
• Developing your skills as a mentor
• Understanding the legal and ethical requirements
• The competing demands faced by an entrepreneur
• The financial aspects of running a business
• Marketing, sales and customer service
• What next – further support available

Eligibility*
Anyone who is thinking of starting their own business or is looking to work independently (e.g.
freelance or sub contractor).

You are:

• Running your own business with less than 250 employees
• A business professional providing business support to prospective and/or existing business owners and entrepreneurs
• If employed, you work for a company employing less than 250 staff

You are not:

• Currently providing mentoring support for the New Enterprise Allowance
• (NEA) programme
•  Registered with a mentoring organisation featured on www.mentorsme.co.uk

Your commitment:

• Attend the 1 day free workshop*
• Register with Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs
• Provide at least 1 hour’s free mentoring per month over the next 2 years (or equivalent)to a micro, small or medium sized business owner

* Whilst the workshop is only free to eligible individuals as defined, we will be happy
for others who may not qualify to attend at a reduced price of £75

Knowing how and when to undertake Risk Assessment is all about putting common sense Health & Safety into practice.

This course is designed for managers, supervisors and others with responsibility for conducting risk assessments and in need of knowledge regarding legal requirements, principles of risk assessment and practical application.

This course aims to assist delegates in contributing to the risk assessment programmes at their workplaces by conducting risk assessments and organising and implementing a risk assessment programme.

Support for 16 to 24 year olds is aimed at helping eligible employers to offer young people employment through the Apprenticeship programme, by providing wage grants to assist employers in recruiting their first Apprentice.

The National Apprenticeship Service will provide up to 40,000 Apprenticeship grants of £1,500  to small-medium sized employers recruiting 16 to 24 year olds,  to encourage new employers to take on new Apprentices.

This grant is available from 1 February 2012 until March 2013 for eligible employers. Priority will be given to small-medium sized employers with less than 250 employees who recruit a 16 to 24 year old apprentice for the first time.
